Professor Jin-Yong Kang MD PhD FRCP, FRCPEd, FRACP
Professor Kang studied Medicine in Birmingham University, graduating with an honours degree in 1973. He trained in Gastroenterology at the General Hospital, Birmingham, and the Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney. In 1981 he joined the National University of Singapore as Lecturer in Medicine and subsequently became Lead Consultant Gastroenterologist and Associate Professor of Medicine. He emigrated to Britain in 1995. Since 1999 he has been Consultant Gastroenterologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer at St George's Hospital, London, and Queen Mary's University Hospital, Roehampton. In 2011 he was appointed Visiting Professor of Medicine at the National University of Singapore.
Professor Kang has practised Gastroenterology and endoscopy for over 30 years. He has performed more than 3000 colonoscopies and over 10000 gastroscopies.
Professor Kang's clinical interests include dyspepsia, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, Barrett's oesophagus, oesophageal motility disorders, irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel disease. He is actively involved in research and has published over 170 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals.
Professor Kang is an examiner for the MRCP, and a member of the oesophageal committee of the British Society of Gastroenterology.
