Barrett's oesophagus

Barrett's oesophagus develops as a consequence of acid reflux.

The condition is diagnosed when there is a change in the lining of the oesophagus and is diagnosed with a combination of endoscopic appearances and histology (biopsy) results. The condition requires long term follow up as it is a risk factor for developing oesophageal cancer.
